Putting on Winter Greens

In many parts of the world golfers are putting on winter greens. Good news because at least you are playing golf, rather than not playing at all!

Winter greens tend to be bumpy, unpredictable and inconsistent. So here are a few tips to help you cope with these less than perfect putting surfaces.

  1. If you are playing competitively, remember it is the same for everyone, so try to not let the putting surface get to you.
  2. It is still possible to make putts on winter greens, putt with a positive attitude and don’t be scared
  3. Try and focus on distance control as your primary objective. At least if your distance control is good you will minimize the possibility of a three putt. To do this, remember to retain your rhythm and allow yourself to take the putter back far enough.

Hope this helps, have fun and remember to take your handwarmers with you.
