Fast Greens. No Fear. Here’s why…

Augusta is one of those places in golf that just feels… different.

The greens are fast, very fast and consistent.

But greens weren’t always like this.

In the 1970s, they were around six and a half feet.
Today, they’re often twelve to fourteen, especially in the US.

That shift started with an idea.

In 1935, Eddie Stimpson created a way to measure green speed.

Frank Thomas — former Technical Director at the USGA, who I built Frankly Frog with —
refined it, made it reliable, and called it the Stimpmeter, out of respect for Eddie Stimpson.

And that changed everything.

On fast greens… you don’t need to hit the ball.

Just soften everything… and let it roll.
