The Power of Putting

The Frankly Frog grew out of years of conversations between Frank and me about putting — how a putter should work, how it should fit, and, above all, how we could make putting simpler.

Frank brought an extraordinary understanding of golf equipment, engineering and how a golf club actually works.

I brought a lifetime on the greens.

As a junior girl, I discovered something that has stayed with me ever since: the power of putting.

I couldn’t always compete with how far other players hit the ball. But I could make up for it on the green.

I spent hour after hour practising. Putting became a strength — perhaps even my golfing superpower. And I learned very early that the green can be a great equaliser.

You don’t have to be the longest hitter.

You don’t have to be the strongest player.

But if you can putt, you can compete.

That belief stayed with me throughout my competitive golf career and eventually led me beyond simply playing the game. I studied Psychology and later completed a Master’s in Sport & Exercise Science, trying to understand more about how we learn, how we perform under pressure, and how confidence is built.

Frank and I came at putting from two different directions.

He understood the golf club — its design, engineering and performance.

I understood putting through a lifetime of playing, practising and studying the person holding it.

Those two perspectives came together in the Frankly Frog Putter.

We weren’t interested in simply making another putter.

At the heart of that thinking were the Fundamentals of Putting — the things that really matter if you want to roll the ball consistently toward your target. Rather than chasing endless tips and quick fixes, Frank and I wanted golfers to understand the principles behind good putting, and then have equipment that allowed them to put those principles into practice.

We wanted golfers to understand their putting. We wanted the putter to fit them properly. We wanted them to understand how and why it worked — and how to get the best from it.

That thinking became the foundation of Frankly Golf.

And, all these years later, it is also at the heart of my new book, Love Putting: Quiet Confidence.

The Frog addresses the equipment.

Love Putting addresses the golfer.

Because better putting isn’t simply about buying a new putter or finding another technical tip. It’s about bringing the equipment, the technique and the person together — and helping golfers develop a way of putting they can actually trust.

If your putting has become something you endure rather than enjoy, perhaps it’s time to look at it differently.

Start with the book. Explore the Frog. Or do both.

My hope is the same now as it was when Frank and I started talking about all of this years ago:

to help more golfers discover just how powerful putting can be.
